Job summary

The Walsh Group seeks a Surveyor Manager for its Water Division in the Atlanta, GA and Cartersville, GA area. You will supervise a field survey crew and ensure horizontal/vertical control derived from plans supports major infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include field data collection with GPS and traditional methods, complex calculations, equipment maintenance, and mentoring team members on new surveying technology. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in construction, engineering or related field or 10 years survey construction staking experience required.
• Trimble Business Center experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives.
• Gathers field survey data through conventional and GPS methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveys for roadway, bridges and other infrastructure projects.
• Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, and AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps and other survey reports.
• Assists in construction, design, topographic, and all types of control surveys.
• Oversees equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Produces accurate detailed maps with surveying data in a timely manner.
• Trains other crew members on the latest technology in surveying equipment.
