The Walsh Group is seeking a Surveyor Manager for the Water Division in the Atlanta, GA and Cartersville, GA area. You will supervise construction survey crews providing horizontal and vertical control derived from plans for field production operations.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in construction, engineering or related field or 10 years of survey construction staking experience required.
• Trimble Business Center experience is a plus.
• Experience with roadway, bridge and infrastructure surveying.

Responsibilities

• Construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives.
• Gathers field survey data through conventional and GPS methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment including total station, data collector, and GPS to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings.
• Performs field surveying for roadway, bridges and other infrastructure projects; installs surveying construction stakes, ties out existing intersection ties, and locates vertical/horizontal control, right-of-way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
• Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop, and software such as AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy and prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps and survey reports.
• Assists in construction, design, topographic, and all types of control surveys.
• Assumes responsibility for company survey equipment and oversees maintenance and inventory.
• Produces accurate detailed maps with surveying data in a timely manner.
• Sets up, operates and adjusts all types of survey equipment, including level, transit and electronic measuring device.
• Makes trigonometric calculations, such as adjusting traverses and calculating coordinates, control points, quantities and areas.
• Trains other crew members on the latest surveying technology.
