Job summary

City of Kinston seeks a skilled Equipment Operator to handle a range of medium to heavy equipment, supporting street, drainage, water and utility projects. You will perform grading, trenching, patching and maintenance tasks while following safety regulations and city policies.

Required high school diploma or GED and extensive experience with heavy equipment; possession or ability to obtain a Class A CDL is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Extensive experience operating medium to heavy equipment.
• Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes and excavators for patching and replacement projects.
• Grade roads and ditches with motor grader.
• Haul materials with tandem dump trucks.
• Maintain safety and report hazards to supervisor.
• Perform routine equipment checks and minor repairs.
• Draft simple records of work activities.
