Job summary

Fervo Energy Company is seeking a Water Lead based in Houston to own water sourcing strategy, forecast demand, and manage infrastructure across all assets. You will supervise field water operations and coordinate with Drilling, Completions, Production, and Facilities to ensure uninterrupted supply.

The role requires 8+ years in water management within oil & gas or geothermal, strong vendor management skills, and a track record of budget ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, earth sciences, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in water management, produced water operations, or water infrastructure in energy sectors.
• Demonstrated ownership of multi-asset water programs, including sourcing strategy, supply forecasting, and infrastructure delivery.
• Experience managing water vendors, including contract negotiation, performance management, and cost optimization.
• Proven track record of building and managing budgets and AFEs for water-related capital programs.
• Experience directly supervising field teams, with a people-first management philosophy.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to drive alignment across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise water sourcing strategy across all assets.
• Own water demand forecasting, integrating drilling schedules and operational projections.
• Build and maintain the water mass balance model across active fields.
• Lead water rights evaluation and acquisition strategy with legal and resource teams.
• Evaluate and advance water recycling programs to reduce consumption.
• Own the water well portfolio from siting to operations.
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery of water well programs with leads.
• Own and manage the water budget, including AFEs and forecast-to-actual variance.
• Develop multi-year infrastructure plans for water impoundments and transfer lines.
• Provide technical input to water infrastructure design with engineering and facilities teams.
• Directly supervise field water operations personnel and vendor relationships.
• Establish and maintain operational standards for water transfer, metering, and reporting.
