Job summary

The Little Light House Central Kentucky, Inc. is seeking a Community & Water Engagement Specialist to help expand public understanding of water resources across Kentucky.

This grant-funded role focuses on outreach, education, and partnerships with state and local organizations. Based at the DOW office in Frankfort, the specialist will develop WRPT content, coordinate watershed education, and support community workshops, with travel reimbursement and standard benefits included.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, water resources, planning, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Strong writing and translation of research to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy the Water Resource Publication Tool (WRPT) content with KAEE and DOW.
  • Collaborate with water resource professionals and stakeholders on educational content.
  • Train municipal water managers and educators to use WRPT for materials.
  • Coordinate outreach campaigns on wetlands, streams, and watershed health statewide.
  • Integrate Project WET curricula into community education programs.
