Job summary

The University of Georgia seeks a Private Lands Biologist to support the WLFW Aquatics Connectivity Framework across Kentucky field sites. You will partner with landowners to plan and implement NRCS conservation practices, conduct aquatic surveys, and coordinate with NRCS staff and partners.

Strong GIS, field data collection, and communication skills are essential. This role includes travel across the state and a hybrid work arrangement between a home office and NRCS field offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of science.
• Experience working with landowners or agricultural producers on conservation projects.
• Familiarity with USDA NRCS conservation programs.
• Experience conducting aquatic fieldwork and riparian assessments.
• Willingness to travel across the state and work in remote field conditions.
• Proficiency with GIS, MS Office, and field data collection platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; hybrid schedule between home and field office.
• NRCS Certification/ JAA status preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conservation planning, application & implementation – work directly with landowners to identify NRCS program opportunities and guide through contracting.
• Coordinate and support implementation of conservation practices per NRCS standards.
• Provide technical guidance during design and construction; ensure practices are installed per NRCS specs.
• Monitor and evaluate conservation practices; suggest adaptive management actions.
• Maintain communication with NRCS offices, partners, and landowners; support outreach and field visits.
