Job summary

The Town of Marblehead is seeking a dedicated helper to support Mechanic/Technician/Pipefitters in maintaining water distribution and sewer systems. You will assist with meter reading, pumping stations, and related tasks, working outdoors in various conditions.

Responsibilities include assisting with inspections, repairs, and equipment operation, as well as communicating with property owners during home visits. Overtime may be required for scheduled and emergency work.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsements required.
Two years of related work experience are required; licenses are preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in maintenance of pumping stations, water tanks, outfalls, and equipment.
Read meters, record water/sewer usage, and interact with residents when accessing homes.
Assist with sewer line inspections, seals, hydrant flushing, and leak detection.
Operate department equipment including pumps, generators, rodding machines, and vehicles.
Mark out water and sewer mains and services; support emergency repairs as needed.
Be available for scheduled and emergency overtime; perform similar duties as directed.
