Job summary

City of Moline is seeking personnel for manual labor and semi-skilled mechanical tasks in maintaining water, sewer, and stormwater piping systems. You will follow instructions and exercise judgment after training, with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities include operating trucks, assisting with sewer cleaning, performing inspections, and helping with water main construction activities. A Class B CDL and a strong safety mindset are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience in mechanical maintenance or underground construction.
• Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of underground piping systems.
• Ability to operate and handle common hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor including digging, lifting, loading, cutting and fastening.
• Operate dump trucks and utility trucks; assist with jetter/vacuum sewer cleaning.
• Use hand and power tools, jackhammers, rock drills and pumps as required.
• Assist in installing, repairing and maintaining utility piping systems.
• Support traffic control setup and shoring during work.
• Support leak detection, hydrant flushing, pressure testing and chlorination of new mains.
