Job summary

Town of Dallas is seeking a skilled utility worker to install, maintain and repair water distribution and sewer collection systems. You will operate tapping machines, backhoes and loaders, respond to leaks, and perform hydrant and valve maintenance.

Requirements include a high school diploma, experience with utility work, and the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions. A NC CDL and water/wastewater certifications are preferred; $43,680–$47,831 DOQ with a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of utility line maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ability to read utility line maps and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains and repairs water and sewer lines and related structures.
• Responds to leaks, high consumption issues, and meter problems.
• Operates tapping machines and other heavy equipment as needed.
• Performs hydrant and valve maintenance and flushing.
• Documents work orders and maintains safety on site.
