Job summary

The Town of Harrisburg is seeking a Utility System Operator in Public Works to perform construction, installation and repair of water and sewer lines and pump stations in both indoor and outdoor environments. The role involves operating heavy equipment, reading meters and maintaining the water and sewer system, with on-call and call-back duties.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year in related field, plus NC CDL and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and considerable experience in related construction or utility maintenance work including heavy equipment operation.
• At least one year of experience in Public Works maintenance or an equivalent field.

Responsibilities

• Construct, install and repair water and sewer lines and pump stations.
• Operate construction equipment and perform back filling and compaction.
• Read meters, inspect and repair sewer lift stations and pumps, install hydrants, meters and valves.
