Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a part-time Water & Sewer Operator based in Allentown, PA. You will inspect facilities, document conditions, and help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, supporting reliable public utilities.

The role emphasizes hands-on field work, collaboration with contractors and municipalities, and data collection using Survey123 and ArcGIS. Flexible schedules are available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in water and sewer treatment facilities with pumping stations and distribution/collection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and municipal standards.
• Strong field documentation and reporting skills.
• Proficiency with digital field tools such as Survey123, ArcGIS, and SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water and/or wastewater facilities, pumping stations, and distribution systems.
• Perform routine inspections, sampling, and laboratory testing for regulatory compliance.
• Monitor systems, gauges, meters, pumps, valves, and alarms; respond to issues.
• Adjust chemical feed rates and treatment processes based on data.
• Complete preventative maintenance and assist with minor repairs.
• Document data and regulatory reporting accurately and timely.
• Maintain safety and environmental compliance, and assist with project coordination.
• Be on call as needed and coordinate with contractors and regulators.

What You Will Do

• Operate, monitor, and maintain water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, distribution systems, and collection systems to ensure safe and reliable service.
• Perform routine inspections, process monitoring, sampling, and laboratory testing to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Monitor operational systems, gauges, meters, pumps, valves, and treatment equipment and respond to operational alarms or emergencies as needed.
• Monitor, and adjust chemical feed rates, and treatment processes based on operational conditions and testing results.
• Complete preventative maintenance and assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Collect and document operational data, maintenance activities, and regulatory reports accurately and timely.
• Maintain compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company/municipal policies.
• Assist in system flushing, system maintenance, valve exercising, and equipment upkeep.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, regulatory agencies, and internal departments during projects and regular operational activities.
• Be on call as needed.
• Utilize digital tools for data collection and reporting, including Survey123, ArcGIS, tablets, and GPS equipment as needed.

What you Bring

• Proven experience in water and sewer treatment facilities with pumping stations, distribution systems, and collection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and municipal standards independently.
• Strong field documentation and reporting skills.
• Proficiency using digital field tools (Survey123, ArcGIS, tablets, SCADA, etc.).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• PA DEP Water and Wastewater Operator License, Class B or higher.
• Experience with municipal or authority-led water and sewer projects.
