Lehigh County Authority in Allentown, PA seeks an Operations & Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, and treatment equipment. The role involves electrical systems, SCADA alarms, and field work at pumping stations and collection systems.

You will join a hands-on team committed to reliable water and wastewater services, with on-call rotating shifts and opportunities to mentor others.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience in maintenance, repair, or operations in utilities, industrial, or related fields.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work Monday-Friday day shift with rotating 24/7 standby service.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pumps, motors, treatment equipment, electrical systems, controls, and related infrastructure.
• Monitor and respond to SCADA system alarms.
• Operate equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, sewer cleaning equipment, leak detection equipment, line locating equipment, and other utility tools.
• Perform maintenance at pumping stations, well stations, treatment facilities, hydrants, valves, and collection systems.
• Support sewer televising and inspection activities.
• Conduct field repairs, excavation work, and system maintenance projects.
• Perform fire flow testing, hydrant maintenance, and meter-related activities.
• Maintain accurate records and complete work documentation.
• Assist with training and mentoring less experienced team members.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule to support emergency response activities.

What the Job Looks Like

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing pumps, motors, treatment equipment, electrical systems, controls, and related infrastructure.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

• Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience performing maintenance, repair, operations, construction, utility, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or related technical work.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday day shift schedule and rotating 24/7 standby service.
• Preferred
  • Water, wastewater, utility, industrial maintenance, or related experience.
  • CDL Class A with tanker endorsement.
  • PA wastewater, distribution, or collection system certifications.
  • Experience working with pumps, motors, controls, SCADA systems, or industrial equipment.
