Job summary

Fulton County in Alpharetta, GA is seeking a Superintendent, Water and Sewer II to manage operations of the county's water system and wastewater collection system, supervise staff, prepare annual budgets, and oversee maintenance, installation, and system improvements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with water treatment training and at least five years of experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory capacity; Georgia driver’s license and Water Distribution System

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with vocational/technical training in water treatment.
• 5 years of water treatment experience including 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; State Certification as a Water Distribution System Operator; Flagger Certification preferred; Waterwater Collection System Operator License preferred; Trench Safety Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises assigned staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, evaluating employee performance, interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, resolving staff issues, making hiring or termination decisions/recommendations, and administering disciplinary action as required.
• Develops and monitors work plans, which includes prioritizing work for all units, scheduling projects and issuing and approving work orders.
• Oversees contracted work for system design and manages project contracts.
• Prepares assigned annual budget for equipment, supplies, staff, and contracted services.
• Ensures adherence to federal and state laws and public water distribution system guidelines.
