Job summary

The Town of Rockport Department of Public Works is seeking a Specialist in the Water & Sewer Division to perform maintenance and repairs on water and sewer mains and service lines. The role involves meter work, inspections, record-keeping, and after-hours emergency response in Rockport, MA.

Under supervision, the specialist will operate snow plow equipment in winter and may be assigned tasks across DPW divisions.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class B CDL Driver's License (Class A Preferred) and 2A-1C Hydraulic Licenses or the ability to obtain within 6 months of assuming duties.
• Strongly preferred Distribution Level 2 (D-2) license.
• Must submit to pre-employment physical examination and substance screening.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain water meter equipment and water/sewer infrastructure.
• Perform water meter readings and data entry into the reading system.
• Maintain records for billing with office staff and other related documentation.
• Turn on/off water mains, hydrants, and services as needed and notify property owners.
• Inspect water/sewer installations to ensure compliance with department standards.
