Job summary

The City of Rock Hill is seeking a general laborer for the Water & Sewer department. The role involves operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance on water distribution systems, and assisting in emergency response. CDL and DOT medical card required or obtainable after Intro Period.

Training on safety topics will be provided after hire. Strong communication and mechanical aptitude are valued, along with the ability to work under supervision and in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires High School graduation or GED.
• Six months in general labor or related maintenance work.
• Knowledge of pipefitting or plumbing is helpful.
• Valid Class A CDL and DOT Medical Card required, or ability to obtain afterIntro Period.
• Safety training such as defensive driving, bloodborne pathogens, forklift, hazard communications, slips and falls, chainsaw, GIS, CityWorks, and Water & Sewer certifications provided after hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium to heavy duty trucks and mechanized equipment.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on water distribution equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with customer service.
• Lead and train subordinate crew workers as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
