Job summary

City of Laredo seeks a professional engineer to support water and sewer infrastructure. The role involves developing engineering standards, reviewing designs, and coordinating with consultants and city departments.

Requirements include a BS in Civil Engineering, a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, and at least 1 year of relevant engineering experience. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, and a City vehicle may be driven for duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• At least 1 year of civil, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and reviews engineering design and standards and oversees construction activity within the department.
• Provides customer service and coordination between consultants, engineers, staff, and other departments.
• Oversees development of water and sewer improvements for new subdivisions; responds to complaints and inquiries.
• Provides updates on number of connections to the water system; compares data with TCEQ requirements.
• Assists with capital improvement projects and TxDOT; provides technical advice as needed.
