Job summary

City of Laredo is seeking a civil engineer to design and oversee public works projects, coordinating with City departments to ensure projects meet timelines and budgets. The role requires experience with AutoCAD 3D, survey data processing, and knowledge of TxDOT specifications.

The position involves working with Building Development Services, One Stop Shop, and contractors, with driving City vehicles as needed. BSC in civil engineering and at least 1 year of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 1 year of civil/related engineering experience.
• Understanding of City/TxDOT specs and regulations.
• Ability to read plans and prepare cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Designs and administers construction of public works projects and coordinates with agencies and contractors.
• Reviews plans, specs, and change orders, ensuring budget adherence and timely completion.
• Calculates land areas and prepares metes and bounds for potential acquisitions.
• Prepares progress reports and oversees surveyors and drafters assigned to projects.
• Manages city infrastructure projects and coordinates with City departments to meet deadlines.
