Job summary

City of Goldsboro seeks a trainee/technician to assist in operating the city’s water, wastewater, and irrigation systems and to gain TCEQ certification. Responsibilities include pumping operations, data collection, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance.

The role requires supporting duties across water services with on-call rotation and ability to follow safety procedures, working with team members, and reporting issues promptly.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of a water distribution or wastewater collection system.
• Must obtain a Class A Texas Commercial Driver’s license within six (6) months of hire date.
• Must obtain a Class D Distribution and Class I Collection License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within 12 months of the hire date.
• Three (3) years of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of a water distribution or wastewater collection system.
• Valid Class A Texas CDL.
• Class C Distribution and a Class II Collection License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
• Five (5) years of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of a water distribution or wastewater collection system.
• Class A CDL.
• Class C Distribution AND a Class III Collection license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality OR Class B Distribution AND a Class II Collection license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating the water, wastewater, and irrigation system by starting/stopping pumps and adjusting system parameters.
• Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on pumps, piping, hydrants, valves, and other components.
• Collect and analyze water samples and document work performed.
• Attend required training to obtain TCEQ Certification and participate in safety meetings.
