Job summary

Lincoln Water System, a division of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, seeks a Mechanical Water Service Technician I to perform water main taps, meter installation and repair, and responsive service calls.

The role involves public interaction, safety in excavations, and on-call duties, with preferred bi-lingual skills and a valid driver’s license. High school diploma and 6 months plumbing experience required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Six months of experience in minor plumbing repairs and installations.
• Bi-lingual skills desirable.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform water main service taps 1” and smaller.
• Inspect service lines for material usage and code conformance.
• Respond to routine and emergency water service calls.
• Install, test, and repair water meters for accuracy.
• Assist in water meter replacements.
• Extensive public contact during in-home service calls.
• Work in excavations and confined spaces.
• Daily use of computer and other electronic equipment.
