Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a dedicated swim instructor to lead and motivate participants in swimming lessons, creating a safe and engaging environment aligned with YMCA policies. Candidates must be at least 16, hold the YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification, and complete required ASHI certifications prior to first shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification required per YMCA standards.
• ASHI certifications for CPR, First Aid and related trainings must be obtained before first shift.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Conduct swim lessons in accordance with YMCA standards and procedures.
• Maintain attendance and progress records.
• Provide safe, positive instruction and feedback to participants.
• Perform equipment checks and prepare materials before class.
• Communicate with parents and aquatics leadership about progress and concerns.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Respond to emergencies per YMCA policies and procedures.
• Support a positive member and parent experience during lessons.
