Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Valid Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguard Instructor certification by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Basic swimming lesson teaching skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency in swimming abilities.
• Teach classes and manage teaching in the water.
• Identify safety issues visually or auditorily for lifeguard needs.
• Represent Gwinnett County positively during instruction.
• Use course materials effectively and plan/coordinat e courses.
• Create a positive environment to meet course objectives.
• Adapt teaching to participants' experience and culture.
• Ensure health and safety of participants and facilities.
• Provide progress feedback and issue certificates when ready.
