Job summary

Georgia Mountains YMCA seeks a friendly Swim Instructor to teach skill-based swim and water safety to all ages. You will supervise students constantly, build positive relationships with families, and align with YMCA values.

The role emphasizes safety, development, and inclusive instruction; training and staff meetings are required, and you will help create a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• CPR/AED, first aid and emergency oxygen training within 30 days of hire.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
• Ability to recognize students needing assistance and hazardous situations.
• Ability to swim and tread water in shallow and deep water.

Responsibilities

• Provides swimming and water safety instruction to students of all ages and abilities.
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.
• Creates new approaches to meet program participant needs.
• Maintains safety, cleanliness, and adherence to program standards.
• Supervises students constantly and supports those needing assistance.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; follows YMCA policies and emergencies.
• Maintains positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and staff.
