Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Part-Time Research Engineering/Scientist for the Water and the Environment at the Cockrell School of Engineering on the Pickle Research Campus. The role supports a SWOT-based research project, with 20 hours per week and an immediate start.

The candidate will apply SWOT-derived river discharge estimation, develop data processing workflows, and contribute to hydrologic modeling and the broader scientific literature.

Qualifications

• Master degree in a related field.
• 2 years applicable experience.
• Experience with Python and R.
• Prior experience with SWOT data and hydrological modeling.

Responsibilities

• Apply SWOT satellite data to river discharge estimation and hydrologic modeling.
• Develop and implement data processing, quality control, and analysis workflows for SWOT data products.
• Evaluate discharge estimation methods using SWOT observations and in situ data.
• Compare SWOT observations with other datasets to assess accuracy.
• Prepare manuscripts and technical reports summarizing methods and findings.
