Job summary

JMT is seeking a motivated mid-level Water Resources engineer with 6–10 years of experience to join the Herndon, VA group. The candidate will work on drainage and stormwater management design, conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and perform erosion and sediment control design.

The role includes mentoring engineers, coordinating with agencies and contractors, and growing the Water Resources discipline within a multidisciplinary office. Virginia project experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil/environmental engineering degree with Water Resources emphasis.
• 6–10 years of Water Resources engineering experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in VA or eligible to obtain within 6 months.
• Hydrologic modeling experience (TR-55/TR20, Rational).
• Hydraulic modeling experience (HEC-RAS, HY-8, HydroCAD).
• Experience with stormwater and drainage design for transportation projects.
• Experience with client interaction at local/state level.

Responsibilities

• Develop drainage design and stormwater management per client specs using current design software.
• Analyze survey data, maps, topography for project planning.
• Conduct watershed studies and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses.
• Prepare contract documents including scopes, fees, plans, reports, specs, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines and mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, government agencies, and multiple locations.
