Responsibilities & Other

In this role, you will lead water resources and stormwater engineering projects for federal, state, and municipal clients. You will manage projects, mentor junior staff, coordinate project elements, and ensure high-quality deliverables, schedule adherence, client communication, and team development.

The ideal candidate has at least 7 years (preferably 10) of experience with municipal and state stormwater programs, MS4 permits, stormwater design, inspections, monitoring, TMDL planning, and project oversight. Business development and client relationship management experience in the Raleigh or Southeast region, especially with municipal clients and agencies, is preferred. NCDOT experience is a plus.

  • Experience leading design teams for roadway and bridge projects using state DOT and AASHTO standards.
  • Project management experience, including team growth and development.
  • Experience with MicroStation and GeoPAK software is preferred.
  • Proposal development, contract management, and billing experience.
  • Strong transportation design knowledge.
  • Professional Engineering License for the relevant state.
  • Ability to develop technical proposals, assemble teams, and foster client relationships.
  • Leadership skills with broad transportation knowledge and ability to develop design packages.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and overseeing project delivery.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred.
  • 7-12 years of professional experience.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening; background and motor vehicle checks may be required.

Performance Expectations
  • Complete annual training and mentor staff.
  • Develop client relationships and solicit feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, safety, and ISO standards.
  • Manage staff work routines and project budgets.
  • Maintain project schedules, quality, and scope.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Conduct site visits, gather data, and develop preliminary designs.
