Job summary

Yakima County seeks a Natural Resources Specialist III to manage contracts and consultants for multi-objective water resources projects such as flood mapping, flood mitigation, and stream restoration.

Responsibilities include developing scopes of work, field data collection (LIDAR, GPS, survey), and coordination with federal/state/tribal partners. Requires a civil engineering-related degree and 3 years of relevant work experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in civil or water resources engineering or closely related field.
• WA State Driver’s License and proof of insurance, if requested.
• General employment verification required.
• Ability to present and communicate information to groups.

Responsibilities

• Manage contracts and consultants for multi-objective water resources projects.
• Oversee data collection: LIDAR, GPS, survey, velocity, sediment, hydraulics.
• Perform/oversee GIS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD work for project maps and models.
• Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to fulfill scope of works.
• Develop grant applications and project budgets.
