Job summary

The Water Institute in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Project Manager to plan, lead, and shepherd projects from conception to completion with an anticipated start date of January 2027. The role acts as the primary link between researchers, clients, and Institute executives to ensure projects stay on time, within budget, and within scope.

Responsibilities include developing PM plans, defining scope, managing budgets/schedules, coordinating meetings, and ensuring deliverables meet requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field.
• Five years of experience in project-based work, related to water resources, planning, or coastal scientific, engineering or socio-environmental fields.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to break down complex projects.
• Excellent writing skills to clearly define requirements for staff and stakeholders.
• Strong oral communication skills for technical concepts and meetings.
• Ability to work harmoniously with a collaborative research team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Project Manager for projects selected in coordination with the Project Management Office Manager and Research Directors.
• Manages projects to meet objectives and scope while seeking efficiencies and synergies.
• Develops project management plans after gathering client requirements and validating with project teams.
• Leads scope definition and ensures sponsor/stakeholder approval.
• Leads creation of WBS, budget and schedule; initiates project meetings and communications.
• Coordinates with Grants and Contracts for subconsultants and tracks subdeliverables against SOW.
• Recommends changes with clients/partners and monitors project costs and variances.
• Ensures deliverables meet requirements and accepts them; performs related duties.
