Job summary

Osborn Consulting is seeking a Water Resources Project Engineer to join our Bellevue/Bellingham area team. You’ll lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, prepare design drawings, and support projects from planning through construction.

Work with a collaborative group to deliver stormwater and drainage solutions that meet local agency requirements, while growing your technical skills through mentoring and hands-on design challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within six months (FE exam).
• 0-3 years of experience in stormwater, drainage, and/or surface water design.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with CAD/Modeling software (Autocad Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, MGSFlood, WWHM, SWMM, SSA, InfoDrainage, HEC-RAS) or ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work independently and complete design tasks.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality engineering reports, calculations, exhibits, and design drawings.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and develop design calculations to meet state and local agency requirements.
• Conduct site visits and provide data analysis as needed.
• Assist in development and compilation of PS&E and QA/QC documentation.
• Provide design solutions within budget and time schedules, ensuring compliance to codes and standards.
• Provide support to Project Manager/Design Manager for coordination and development of deliverables.

Job description

We are looking for a Water Resources Project Engineer in the Water Business Group who is passionate and excited about stormwater/drainage design.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of infrastructure improvement projects for state and local agencies, all while intersecting with multidisciplinary teams. See your project from paper to build condition by working on planning, preliminary design, final design, construction-ready design documents, and providing design support during construction!

About The Role

In this position, you’ll work with a highly collaborative team to:

• Provide quality engineering reports, calculations, exhibits, and design drawings.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and develop design calculations to meet state and local agency requirements.
• Conduct site visits and provide data analysis, as needed.
• Assist in the development and compiling of plans, specifications, and engineers' estimate (PS&E), and necessary QA/QC documentation.
• Provide design solutions for projects within budget and time schedules, ensuring compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and client and company standards.
• Provide support to the Project Manager or Design Manager for the coordination and development of project deliverables.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required.
• Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or be able to obtain it within six months. (Fundamentals of Engineering - FE exam)
• 0-3 years of experience in design, planning, and implementation of civil design projects focused on stormwater, drainage, and/or surface water.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with the principles and practices of project design and design development using computer aided design software and modeling software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, MGSFlood, WWHM, SWMM, SSA, InfoDrainage, HEC-RAS, etc.) or the drive and ability to learn quickly on the job.
• Ability to work independently and complete design tasks.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients.

To thrive in this position, you may also have these qualifications:

• Knowledge and understanding of state and local stormwater and/or surface water industry rules and regulations.
• Interest/experience working on linear roadway and highway projects.
• Familiarity with developing Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC) Plans and Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (CSWPP)
• Active participation in industry organizations such as APWA, ASCE, WTS, etc.

Location

This position is an in-office role (minimum 4 days a week in the office) based out of the Bellevueor Bellingham office.

The expected compensation range for this position for employees based in the Bellevue and Bellingham area is $80,000-$96,000 annually and is dependent upon skills, years of experience, education, and professional registration.
