Job summary

Osborn Consulting is a Water Resources firm seeking a Project Engineer to advance stormwater and drainage design for state and local agencies in Washington. You’ll contribute from planning through construction-ready design while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and advancing toward leadership roles.

You’ll develop reports, calculations, and drawings, perform hydrologic analyses, and support plans, specs, and cost estimates with QA/QC, while growing technical skills and professional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required.
• FE/EIT certification within six months (Fundamentals of Engineering exam).
• 0–3 years of experience in civil design for stormwater, drainage, or surface water.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with CAD and modeling software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, etc.).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality engineering reports, calculations, exhibits, and design drawings.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to meet agency requirements.
• Conduct site visits and data analysis as needed.
• Assist in developing plans, specs, and engineers’ estimates, with QA/QC.
• Deliver design solutions within budget and schedule, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Support Project/Design Manager in coordinating project deliverables.

In this position, you willhave the opportunity to workon a wide variety of infrastructure improvement projects forstate and local agencies, allwhileintersecting withmultidisciplinary teams.See your project from paper to build condition by workingon planning, preliminary design, final design, construction-ready design documents, and providing design support during construction!

About the Role

In this position, you’ll work with a highly collaborative team to:

• Provide quality engineering reports, calculations, exhibits, and design drawings.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and develop design calculations to meet state and local agency requirements.
• Conduct site visits and provide data analysis, as needed.
• Assistin the development and compiling of plans, specifications, and engineers' estimate (PS&E), and necessary QA/QC documentation.
• Provide design solutions for projects within budget and time schedules, ensuring compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and client and company standards.
• Provide support to the Project Manager or Design Manager for the coordination and development of project deliverables.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related fieldrequired.
• Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or be able to obtain it within six months. (Fundamentals of Engineering - FE exam)
• 0-3 years of experience in design, planning, and implementation of civil design projects focused on stormwater, drainage, and/or surface water.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with the principles and practices of project design and design developmentusingcomputer aided design software and modeling software (AutoCAD Civil3D,MicroStation,InRoads, OpenRoads, MGSFlood, WWHM, SWMM, SSA, InfoDrainage, HEC-RAS, etc.) or the drive and ability to learn quickly on the job.
• Ability to work independently and complete design tasks.
• Strong written and oral communicationskillsto coordinate with team members and clients.

To thrive in this position, you may also have these qualifications:

• Knowledge and understanding of state and local stormwater and/or surface water industry rules and regulations.
• Interest/experience working on linear roadway and highway projects.
• Familiarity with developing Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC) Plans and Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (CSWPP)
• Active participation in industry organizations such as APWA, ASCE, WTS, etc.

Location

This position is an in-office role (minimum 4 days a week in the office) based out of the Bellevueor Bellingham office.

The expected compensation range for this position for employees based in the Bellevue and Bellingham area is $80,000-$96,000 annually and is dependent upon skills, years of experience, education, and professional registration.
