BHC Consultants, LLC is a consulting engineering, planning, and building code and construction compliance firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham, Washington. We are seeking a full-time Sr.

Project Engineer/Project Manager to join our engineering group and lead stormwater projects. The successful candidate will manage scopes, budgets, and schedules, coordinate staffing across offices, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while handling stormwater design, modeling, and permitting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Washington PE license required or to obtain within 6 months for out-of-state candidates.
• 10+ years of multi-disciplinary stormwater engineering experience including planning, modeling, design, permitting, and construction services.
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring and project management background.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with stormwater modeling software such as MGS Flood, WWHM, SWMM, HEC-RAS.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS software.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new client relationships and projects while maintaining existing client relationships.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules; deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Coordinate staffing and workload across the project lifecycle and ensure timely deliverables.
• Track project finances and adjust team effort to complete work.
• Lead stormwater projects and contribute to other civil engineering work as needed.
• Prepare reports and technical documents such as stormwater drainage reports per local requirements and permits.

We are currently seeking a full-time Sr. Project Engineer/Project Manager with experience in stormwater management planning, modeling, and design to join our engineering group in one of our three office locations. Collaboration with staff in all offices should be expected; preferred location can be prioritized.

The Project Engineer/Project Manager will:

• Play a key role in the continued growth of the company by identifying and developing new client relationships and projects and by helping to maintain relationships and execute projects with existing clients.
• Demonstrate strong project management skills including the ability to develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules during project planning, and the ability to deliver quality projects on time and within budget.
• Independently coordinate staffing and workload throughout the entire project development and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
• Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure work is completed.
• Be primarily responsible for executing projects involving stormwater but also be flexible in working on other civil engineering projects based on workload and projects needs.
• Demonstrate strong writing skills for the purpose of preparing reports and technical documents, such as stormwater drainage reports in accordance with the local stormwater requirements (primarily Ecology Stormwater Management Manual and King County Surface Water Design Manual).
• Demonstrate experience preparing construction contract documents, including engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimated for public works projects.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Washington PE license or, for out-of-state candidates, Washington PE license within 6 months of hire.
• 10+ years demonstrated success working on multi-disciplinary and stormwater engineering projects including planning, modeling, design, permitting, and services during construction.
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring and project management background.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with stormwater modeling software (e.g. MGS Flood, WWHM, SWMM, HEC-RAS)
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
• Working knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS software products.

The following would also be of benefit:

• Project management training, PMP certification or similar technical design leadership.
• Established clientele and professional relationships
• Experience reviewing drainage permit applications for regulatory agencies and municipalities in accordance with appropriate stormwater codes and manuals.
• Knowledge and experience working with stormwater permits, such as the NPDES Phase II Stormwater Permit, Industrial Stormwater General Permit, and the Construction Stormwater General Permit.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS and/or Revit (BIM) design software products.
