Job summary
City of Wichita is seeking an Engineering Technician I – Utility System Planning, Water Resources to support planning, analysis, mapping, and coordination of the City’s water utility systems. You will work with engineers, contractors, and utility professionals to help ensure reliable service for residents and businesses.
The role combines office-based analysis with field-based project support, including GIS mapping, data management, and cost estimation.
Qualifications
- Four (4) years of subprofessional engineering experience including utility plan review, GIS mapping and field inspections.
- Or an associate degree with two years of subprofessional engineering experience.
- A valid Kansas Driver’s License and work authorization in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Perform computations for plan preparation and cost estimation.
- Review plats and easements for main benefit fees.
- Assist Subdivision Committee as advisory staff.
- Quote tap/connection fees and collect payments.
- Conduct field inspections and GIS data maintenance.
- Maintain data in asset management software and GIS systems.
