Job summary

The City of Asheville is seeking a Water Resources Assistant Director to provide executive leadership over municipal water services and major infrastructure initiatives. This role oversees staff, budgets, policies, and strategic planning to meet current and future community water needs.

As the department's deputy leader, you will coordinate with city administrators and City Council, develop grant applications for infrastructure projects, and ensure high standards of performance and compliance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
Ten years of progressively responsible experience in managing water treatment and distribution operations with supervisory experience.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license and a NC Class A Water Treatment or Distribution license.

Responsibilities

Directs, oversees, and evaluates staff and staff development.
Manages division activities, schedules, budgets, and resource provisioning.
Develops and implements short- and long-term plans for department and divisions.
Develops policies, procedures, and SOPs; monitors compliance.
Prepares reports, presents to City officials, and coordinates with other departments.
