A well-established engineering firm in Lynchburg, Virginia is seeking a highly motivated intern to join their Transportation Water Resources team. This internship offers hands-on experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design, stormwater management, and environmental compliance. The intern will assist with design and analysis, technical documentation, and field investigations, while gaining insight into local water resources regulations. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and possess strong communication skills.
Qualifications
Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Civil Engineering.
Strong interest in water resources/hydraulics and transportation infrastructure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Exposure to engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, or GIS is a plus).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Assist in the design and analysis of stormwater management systems.
Support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software.
Help prepare construction documents and technical reports.
Conduct field investigations and assist with data collection.
Collaborate with engineers on multidisciplinary projects.
Learn and apply local, state, and federal water resources regulations.
