Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Water Resources Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Virginia Beach, VA office. This internship offers hands-on project experience and exposure to the latest technology in water resources engineering.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Housing bonus may be available for eligible candidates, and interns will participate in workshops, networking events, and a group project with firm leaders.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Knowledge of water quality modeling, wastewater modeling, and water quality regulatory issues.
• Knowledge of floodplain delineation, storm water management, culvert and bridge hydraulics, and drainage design.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Proficiency in MS Office software
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on project experience in water resources engineering during the Summer Intern Program.
• Work on projects similar to those handled by full-time staff.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $18.75/hour - $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Program Information

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

• Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.
• Learning about our services, projects, and clients.
• Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others.
• Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
