Job summary

Dewberry is currently seeking Site/Civil Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 to join our Site/Civil department in our Richmond, VA office to work on a variety of projects for clients within the commercial and government sector.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering required.
  • Previous internship experience preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft office is required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Site/civil development including grading design, roadway design, storm water management systems design, and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Preparation of all associated calculations, reports and spreadsheets.
  • Working on design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
  • May also conduct code research, write specifications, and obtain permitting.

Typical projects involve site/civil design for residential, commercial and industrial site development, and capital improvement projects.

*A housing stipend may be provided to eligible candidates.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $1 8 .75/hour - $2 9 .75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Program Information

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

  • Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.
  • Learning about our services, projects, and clients.
  • Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others.
  • Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
