Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Fairfax, VA office. You will work on all phases of civil/municipal engineering, including water and sanitary sewer design, while helping local, state, and regional clients solve complex water and wastewater challenges.

Interns gain hands-on project experience through a structured program, workshops, and group projects, collaborating with firm leaders and engineers on meaningful work during the summer.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Previous internship experience preferred.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using CAD a plus.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.

Dewberry is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 for our Fairfax, VA office. You will work on all phases of civil/municipal engineering including water and sanitary sewer design. Typical projects involve helping local, state, and regional clients solve complex water and wastewater challenges.

Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Previous internship experience preferred.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $1 8 .75 /hour - $2 9 .75 /hour . Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands‑on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full‑time employee.

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

  • Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.
  • Learning about our services, projects, and clients.
  • Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others.
  • Summer‑long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
