Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. seeks a Water Resources Engineer in Iowa City, IA. You will perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, support field data collection, and prepare FEMA-compliant flood studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree with water resources emphasis.
• 0-3 years civil engineering experience.
• Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with modeling software preferred.
• Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic models helpful.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D and ArcGIS helpful.
• Strong communication and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of rural watersheds and rivers.
• Support field investigations and data collection for models.
• Prepare floodplain and watershed studies per FEMA standards.
• Run GIS-based flood risk models using HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS/SWMM.
• Utilize ArcGIS for flood risk mapping and project needs.
• Support stormwater design and evaluate design approaches/regulations.
