Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Stormwater Engineer in South Florida to design and model municipal stormwater systems, conduct hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, and support regulatory permitting. You will work toward a Project Manager role while collaborating with municipal clients and senior leadership.

The role emphasizes practical engineering, client communication, and delivering high-quality public-sector projects across South Florida, with offices in Fort Lauderdale or Jupiter.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in stormwater engineering, drainage design, and hydrology/hydraulics.
• Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
• Experience working on municipal or public-sector drainage and stormwater projects.
• Strong understanding of Florida stormwater regulations and permitting processes.
• Proven ability to manage tasks, communicate with clients, and contribute to project delivery.
• Desire to step into a Project Manager role within 1–3 years.
• Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing and modeling stormwater systems for municipal infrastructure improvements and capital programs.
• Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support flood mitigation and resiliency planning.
• Developing stormwater management solutions for public-sector clients (cities, counties, districts).
• Applying 1D/2D modeling to evaluate conveyance systems and floodplain behavior.
• Coordinating permitting with local agencies and FEMA where applicable.
• Contributing to watershed studies and master drainage plans and informing long-term infrastructure decisions.
• Mentoring junior staff and supporting path to project management.

What We're Looking For
