Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Associate Consultant Water Resources Engineer in North Carolina to join our Water Resources Team. You will be the primary designer contributing to stormwater conveyance, hydraulic modeling, stream restoration, and plan production while collaborating with a local team to deliver high-quality projects.

The role emphasizes growth toward a PE license, experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ORD, MicroStation, SWMM, and HEC-RAS, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Biological & Agriculture or related field from an accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or FE exam completed.
  • On track to acquire PE license within four years.
  • 2+ years of civil engineering experience and related project exposure.
  • Experience with grading and plan production (AutoCAD or ORD).
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage, site layout and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Environmental/floodplain/site development permitting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork within water resources group.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with local project teams across statewide projects (NCDOT, Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington).
  • Contribute to design efforts from preliminary analysis through final design, permitting, bidding, and construction.
  • Support preparation of technical reports and designs for water resources projects.
  • Ensure plans, specs, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and uphold safety and project policies.
