Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Associate Consultant Water Resources Engineer in North Carolina to join our Water Resources Team. You will act as the primary designer on water resources projects, developing skills in modeling and drafting and collaborating with local teams on planning, analysis and design of stormwater conveyance, hydraulic modeling, and site development.

Ideal candidates are pursuing PE licensure with a Civil/Environmental background and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ORD, MicroStation,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Biological & Agriculture engineering from an accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • On track to acquire a professional engineer’s (PE) license within four years.
  • More than two years of relevant experience with civil engineering principles and practices and project experience in grading and plan production (AutoCAD or Open Roads Designer).
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage system design, site layout, and coordination with other civil design disciplines.
  • Experience with environmental, floodplain, and/or site development permitting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with our water resources team and coordinate with other disciplines at WSP.
  • Proficiency with modeling/design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, CivilStorm/StormCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS.
  • Perform and assemble design calculations, and prepare documents including reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates with supervision.
  • Demonstrates commitment to high-quality technical and professional deliverables and adherence to safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with local project teams that are making the biggest impacts in our statewide community, including NCDOT and Raleigh area offices.
  • Contribute to design efforts throughout the engineering phase and support project delivery from preliminary analysis through final design, permitting, bidding, and construction phases.
  • Participate in a local group with growth potential and an established presence in the engineering community.
  • Support project teams in the preparation of technical reports and designs for water resources projects.
  • Ensure that production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meets scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and policies.
