Dewberry in Gainesville, VA is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources group in our Gainesville office. You will work on stormwater management design, stream restoration, floodplain analysis, and dam safety projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and at least 4 years of water resources experience, with familiarity in HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS and AutoCAD/ArcGIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of water resources engineering experience.
  • Experience in watershed and stormwater management and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling.
  • Familiarity with Virginia stormwater regulations (VRRM) preferred.
  • Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, TR-55, SWMM and PondPack.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare deliverables using AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
  • Conduct surface water analyses using hydrologic/highway models (HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS, etc.).
  • Perform watershed and stormwater management planning and design.
  • Develop stormwater management plans and BMP facility designs.
  • Perform dam safety engineering/analysis and related studies.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to project design and client communications.

Dewberry is seeking a motivated Water Resources Engineer for the Water Resources group within our Gainesville, VA office. Typical projects involve stormwater management design, stream restoration / natural channel design, dam safety engineering, storm drainage design, floodplain management and analysis, watershed flood hazard analysis, and other watershed planning projects. Responsibilities
  • Prepare deliverables using AutoCAD and ArcGIS platforms
  • Prepare surface water analyses using HEC and Bentley platforms
  • Conduct watershed and stormwater management planning and design
  • Prepare stormwater management plans and BMP facility design plans
  • Perform stream restoration / natural channel design
  • Perform roadway and site drainage design and culvert hydraulic analysis
  • Perform floodplain studies and prepare FEMA LOMC applications
  • Perform dam safety engineering/analysis including dam inspections, dam break inundation zone studies/mapping, dam hazard assessments, development of emergency action plans, spillway design flood development and spillway design, new dam design and dam rehabilitation design
  • Perform watershed flood hazard analyses and prepare flood hazard remediation designs
  • Act as a technical mentor to entry-level engineers
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years water resources engineering experience
  • Experience in watershed and stormwater management, design of stormwater quantity and quality control measures (BMPs), surface water hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, and watershed/waterway modeling
  • Understanding of Virginia stormwater management regulations preferred, especially the Virginia Runoff Reduction Methodology (VRRM)
  • Understanding of hydrologic & hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, TR-55, SWMM, and PondPack
  • AutoCAD and ArcGIS experience

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $95,000-$122,000 annually in our Gainesville, VA office. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
