Job description

Location: Pleasanton & Sacramento, California

I’m working with a well-established civil engineering firm in the Bay Area that is looking to add a Water Resources Engineer to its Pleasanton team.

This is an opportunity for a California-licensed PE with 4–8 years of experience in water resources, particularly someone with a background in storm drainage, hydrology, hydraulics, and flood control.

You’ll work across a mix of land development and public infrastructure projects, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility across technical design, hydraulic modelling, drainage studies, and project coordination.

What you’ll be working on:
  • Storm drain system design and open/closed-channel hydraulics
  • Surface hydrology and rainfall-runoff analysis
  • 1D/2D hydraulic modelling and flood control
  • Master drainage plans and stormwater management
  • Technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
  • Drainage and flood control design for private developments and public infrastructure
  • Coordination with clients, public agencies, and internal project teams
What they’re looking for:
  • 4–7 years of relevant civil engineering experience
  • Strong experience in hydrology, hydraulics, storm drainage, or flood control
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, XPStorm, Innovyze, WaterCAD, or similar software
  • Strong technical communication and writing skills
  • Experience with land development drainage and/or public infrastructure is highly desirable

The role offers the chance to work alongside experienced engineers, broaden your technical exposure, and take on increasing responsibility as you progress toward a senior-level position.

The package includes competitive compensation, bonus potential, profit sharing/401(k), medical, dental and vision coverage, tuition assistance, student loan support, and additional wellness benefits.
