Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil Engineer to support water resources projects in Florida. You will work with project engineers on hydraulics, hydrology, and stormwater modeling for federal, state, and local clients, producing calculations and draft reports.

A Bachelor's degree is required, and an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is preferred; local candidates are favored. You will be part of our employee-owned culture and collaborate with a focused team to deliver resilient water infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and CAD platforms such as AutoCAD.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Apply design engineering and modeling techniques to water resource projects for municipalities.
  • Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling and stormwater systems modeling.
  • Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and water resources studies.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and other team members.

In the role of Water Resources Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Work under project engineers on the application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resource projects for federal, state and local municipalities
  • Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling, stormwater collection systems modeling, data collection, assimilation, and presentations
  • Focus on projects including flood control, river design, stream grade control structures, dike systems, levees, stream channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues and non-point source loading and point source design.
  • Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and perform water resources studies
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
