Qualifications

• Strong CAD and hydraulic modeling software skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

Job Summary

HDR’s Water Business Group is seeking a Water Resources Designer/EIT to support the delivery of safe drinking water, wastewater treatment, sustainable water supplies, and flood control projects. The role involves applying engineering and modeling expertise to design water resource solutions for federal, state, and local municipalities, contributing to public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

Responsibilities

• Work under project engineers on design and modeling techniques for water resource projects.
• Focus on hydraulics, hydrology and stormwater collection system modeling, including data collection, assimilation, and presentation.
• Contribute to projects such as flood control, river design, dike systems, levees, stream channel restoration, wetland and lake restoration, and watershed management.
• Produce design calculations, draft technical reports, and perform water resources studies.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• If not licensed, candidate will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and expected to obtain EIT for career progression.
• Preference given to local candidates.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to complete tasks.
• Commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
