Water Resources Design Engineer

Position Summary

Why Indianapolis?

Our Indianapolis Office, the headquarters of VS Engineering, hosts our largest teams in Transportation, Water Resources, and Structural engineering. Our Water Resources team has diverse experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater projects for local governments and the state. The Noblesville office offers an alternative location northeast of Indianapolis.

Your Role as a Design Engineer

1. Develop comprehensive construction documents and specifications.
2. Assist with planning, design, and construction inspection of civil engineering projects.
3. Lead preparation of planning documents, engineering plans, details, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
4. Coordinate with clients, regulators, and permitting agencies.
5. Support contract administration and bidding processes.
6. Conduct field assignments for data collection and site checks.
7. Contribute to project proposals, change orders, and client communications.
8. Generate water resource designs adhering to current standards.
9. Research and prepare preliminary reports and feasibility studies.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Registered Professional Engineer in IN, KY, or OH.
• 5-7+ years of experience in water resource project design.
• Experience with public sector projects (e.g., INDOT, municipal).
• Knowledge of water/wastewater projects, sewer overflow consolidation, and municipal programs.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, GIS, modeling software, StormCAD, CDSS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe.
