Job summary

Shine BrightX LLC is seeking a civil/environmental engineering student for a summer internship in the Water Resources group. You will assist engineers with GIS-based data processing to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and help prepare design reports and construction estimates.

You'll gain hands-on experience in field data collection, site inspections, and creating surface models in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Engineering degree program.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Valid driver's license.
• Prior internship or co-op experience is a plus.

Your Role

Here's what you will be doing:

• Assist engineering and scientific staff with data processing and management using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Prepare spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports.
• Prepare design and construction plans, specifications, quantity take-offs, and construction estimates.
• Assist with field work for data collection, site inspections, and observations.
• Build surface models in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Support Project Managers with various tasks to advance and track project progress.

Internship is with the local Water Resources group, with possible opportunities to assist in Geotechnical, Transportation, and Environmental Services disciplines.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); desired software includes AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills, reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
• Exposure to hydrologic and hydraulic software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM is a plus.
• Must be a college student pursuing a Civil and/or Environmental Engineering degree or other technical discipline.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.
