Job summary

City of Saco is seeking an Instrumentation Specialist for the Water Resource Recovery Facility. The role focuses on the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic instruments and controls within the wastewater treatment process.

Experience with PLC/SCADA programming, CMMS recordkeeping, and safety-compliant maintenance is essential. Strong communication with directors and staff is required, with a commitment to reliable facility operations.

Qualifications

Working knowledge of equipment, facilities, processes, methods, and procedures used in wastewater treatment plant maintenance and operation activities.
Considerable mechanical and electrical skills.
Basic carpentry and pipe-fitting skills.
Skilled in the use of Excel and Word
Ability to perform process control calculations.
Ability to work safely.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Competency in word processing, spreadsheets and operational software.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate routine operational activities with Director/Deputy Director and plant staff.
Maintain communication between operations and maintenance staff.
Assist in scheduling, costing and controlling corrective and preventative maintenance.
Monitor equipment and report problems; direct changes to prevent damage.
Direct and participate in maintenance of electrical systems used in wastewater processing.
Direct and participate in maintenance of electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic instruments and controls.
Program PLC and SCADA controls.
Document procedures for maintenance and repair of instruments and electrical systems.
