Job summary

STV, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Water Resource Discipline Lead to guide the PA/NJ Water Resources group on major New Jersey transportation projects. You will oversee design management, staff development, and coordination with NJDOT, NJTA, and NJDEP regulators.

The role requires strong leadership, deep water resources expertise, and the ability to deliver complex hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and permits while mentoring junior staff and maintaining client communications.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in water resources engineering with NJDOT/NJTA projects.
• NJ PE License required or ability to obtain licensure in NJ within 6 months through reciprocity.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the PA/NJ Water Resources team including design management and staff development.
• Lead design and analysis of hydrologic/hydraulic studies, drainage and stormwater systems for transportation projects, compliant with NJ regulations.
• Oversee environmental permits and construction documents preparation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff and ensure deliverables' quality.
• Engage with clients, manage project schedules, and ensure milestones are met.

Job description

Water Resource Discipline Lead

STV is seeking a highly experienced Water Resource Discipline Lead to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NJ clients, including NJDOT and NJTA. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated senior engineer to contribute to high-profile infrastructure projects across New Jersey and to lead the PA/NJ Water Resources group. Candidates will work with other STV offices in other regions as well.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead the PA/NJ Water Resources team including design management and staff development.
• Lead the design and analysis of hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) studies, drainage, stormwater management systems and erosion/sediment control for roadway and transportation projects, ensuring compliance with NJDOT, NJTA, NJDEP and local regulations.
• Oversee the preparation of environmental permits and construction documents.,
• Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including roadway engineers, environmental specialists, and permitting agencies, to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff, ensuring the quality and accuracy of deliverables.
• Engage in client communications, manage project schedules, and ensure timely delivery of milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in water resources engineering with a focus on NJDOT and NJTA projects.
• NJ PE License required, or the ability to obtain licensure in NJ within 6 months through reciprocity from another state.
• Proficiency in OpenRoads Drainage & Utilities tools, with demonstrated expertise in modeling and design is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of stormwater management regulations, erosion and sediment pollution controls, hydraulic analysis, and drainage system design in New Jersey.
• Proficiency with drainage and stormwater modeling software packages such as HEC-RAS and HydroCAD
• Scour analysis experience
• Experience in preparing hydraulic studies and stormwater management reports for large infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with NJDEP and other regulatory agency regulations and permitting processes.
• Experience with floodplain analysis and bridge hydraulics.

Compensation Range

$179,925.15 - $205,628.74
