Job summary

University of Connecticut is seeking a Water Pollution Control Operator 1 for its Facilities Operations Department at UConn Storrs. This permanent, full‑time role manages the WRRF and lift stations, performing water reclamation tasks and routine maintenance on related equipment.

The position requires a Class I Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator Certificate, strong mechanical and analytical skills, and the ability to work with SCADA and data systems.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining a large wastewater treatment facility.
• Ability to perform chemical tests and record results.
• Proficiency with SCADA systems and water data software.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment at the WRRF and lift stations on the Storrs Campus.
• Perform routine repairs on pumps, valves, and motors.
• Conduct biological and chemical analyses of water and record results.
• Monitor meters and gauges and interpret operating characteristics.
• Prepare operational records and reports.
• Respond to SCADA alarms and maintain safety standards.
