Job summary

The University of Connecticut, Facilities Operations, Storrs Campus, invites applications for a Water Pollution Control Operator 1. This position performs a limited range of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the WRRF and associated lift stations, ensuring safe and efficient water treatment.

The role requires a Class I Wastewater Operator Certificate at hire with ongoing certification, and offers a permanent, full-time schedule on 1st shift, 7:00 am–3:00 pm, with occasional weekend work

Qualifications

• Operate and maintain water pollution control and water reclamation facilities equipment.
• Possess Class I Wastewater Operator Certificate at hire and maintain it.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; relevant certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Performs limited operation and maintenance tasks in WRRF equipment and systems.
• Operates grit chambers, pumps, chlorination, and dewatering systems.
• Maintains records; prepares operational reports and daily logs.
• Responds to emergencies and supports safety standards.
